College Park Can’t Keep Up With San Mateo
April 1, 2008
This past weekend, College Park traveled to San Mateo and met a powerful and explosive club that used their superior size and experience to run away with the win. College Park was able to spin the ball wide and pin the home team in their zone with strategic kicks. However, San Mateo’s defense was stifling and they were able to keep possesion through a barrage of pick and drives. College Park competed hard for 80 full minutes and did punch in 2 first half tries by 8-man Will Bordenave ‘10 and flanker/lock Kellan Barker ‘08.

Live Oak Squeeks by College Park
March 8, 2008
Saturday’s game was a fast, entertaining matchup of two very even teams that came down to a kick with no time remaining. Unfortunately, the points that would have tied the game sailed wide right and College Park was left to think of what could have been and a 19-17 loss. The first half saw Live Oak set the tone early with driving crashes and well executed running angles from their backs. However, College Park stayed with the visitors and had several scoring chances. College Park came out strong in the second half and seemed to own the majority of possession and field position. However, just as late in the first half, the home team could not finish, and left needed points off the board. A missed kick to touch and a turned over ball after an 80 meter run in the last 20 minutes seemed to deflate the crowd at the Willow Glen Highschool football field. But College Park would not go down without a fight. A forward pick by Will Bordenave ‘10 was driven into the try zone with no time remaining. Unfortunately, the angled kick that would have tied the game sailed wide right. Despite the heartbreaker, the team was in good spirits after the game, knowing that they stood toe to toe with a very talented Live Oak team.

College Park defeated by East Palo Alto
March 6, 2008
On Saturday, College Park was downed by a very tough and physical EPA squad. Although EPA dominated the score board, College Park was able to break the gainline throughout the match and the forwards held their own in the scrums and lineouts. In the end, EPAs ability to break off long scores was the difference. Despite the loss, College Park was able to see what they need to improve on, and where their strengths are. The team will pick it up next week with two games against Live Oak.
Captains: Matt Fleming ‘08 and Nick Kovaleski ‘09
