Sevens Season Has Begun!

College Park current players and alumni are practicing at Kirk Park at 6pm on Thursdays in anticipation of the Summer 7s Season. College Park has two squads entered, one competing in the highschool division, and one in the men’s second tier. After the first weekend, both teams walked away with 2-1 records, and will look to improve at the next Palo Alto tournament on July 12th. Come out to practice anytime, we still have plenty of rugby to play this summer!


College Park Fairs Well in Post-Season

College Park walked away with wins against the Cal Poly freshmen in San Luis Obispo, and Live Oak in the Pacific Coast Invitational Tournament.  The team travelled to SLO and walked away with a win in the 95 degree heat to the Cal Poly team that included Aaron Bordenave ‘07, Madison Parsons ‘07, and Matt Verga ‘07.  The game was hilighted by a 95 meter solo try from Timmy Schwarz ‘10.  Two weeks later, College Park walked away with a 1-2 record, losing two games to mixed teams from the north bay and Sacramento, but squeaking by league rival Live Oak.  The team was bolstered by a few San Mateo and Peninsula 2nd side players.  Mark Muldowney ‘08 starred for College Park during the weekend.


College Park Knocked from Playoffs

College Park was knocked from the playoffs by eventual league champions Peninsula Green, 41-26.  College Park cut the lead to 10 points, and had the momentum with 10 minutes remaining, but a late try by Peninsula Green put the game away.  The regular season is now over, but the team still has the Cal Poly trip and the PCIT in the coming weeks.
